Etymology: Labeo: Latin, labeo = one who has large lips (Ref. 45335); kirkii: Named after M.J. Kirk who collected the specimen on which Boulenger based the original description of the species (Ref. 26192).

पृष्ठीय रीढ़ (सम्पूर्ण): 3; पृष्ठीय सौफट रेज़ (सम्पूर्ण): 10-14; गुदा कांटा 3; ऐनल सौफट रेज़: 5; जानवरों की रीड़ का जोड़: 31 - 33. Diagnosis: Large lips plicate; dorsal fin concave with 10 branched rays; eyes in superolateral position; genital orifice far from the origin of the anal fin; snout largely pointed and very prominent with a deep transverse furrow and a fleshy appendix at the end; dark lateral brown band on the flanks (Ref. 26192).

Found in rapid waters and swampy areas (Ref. 26192).
