Characterized by head and anterior of body, yellowish with black-white bars, three of the vertical bars on postorbital head and nape connected to horizontal white line; absence of pelvic frenum; longitudinal scale series 23-26; ctenoid scales on body, becoming cycloid anteriorly; head, nape, pectoral fin base and breast without scales; reduced pattern of cheek papillae; opening of gill extending forward to below posterior margin of eye; depth of body 3.5-4.2 in SL (Ref. 90102).
