Threatened due to habitat loss, eutrophication/pollution, construction measures in rivers, and water abstraction. Listed on Annex V of the EU Habitats Directive as Barbus spp. (Ref. 58342). Status of threat: endangered (Ref. 58342). "nEurTurk."
