Comments: Described by Herre from specimens taken from Siwagat River, a stream in the mountains east of Lake Lanao; Lake Uyaan; Lake Nunuñgan, Cotabato; and from an outlet of Lake Dapao, Lanao del Sur. Also occurs in Butig, Lanao (Ref. 2929, 13446, 70969). Recorded in a 1982 survey (Ref. 12758), 1963-64, 1973-77, 1982-83, 1990-91 and 2008 surveys (Ref. 95183). In the 1990-91 survey, 292 kg were recorded. Caught mainly with fish pots, hook and line, and hand fishing (Ref. 13448). A number of specimens were collected during the 1994 expedition (Ref. 10888). Short description Morfologia | Morfometria

Spine dorsali (totale): 4; Raggi dorsali molli (totale): 8; Spine anali 3; Raggi anali molli: 5. Color in life dark greenish or olive dorsally, paler on sides, whitish below; silvery luster over all; nape with a black spot; fins more or less dusky. The species may vary in color, scale counts and proportions. Circular gelatinous lid of eye high up, with posterior margin midway between tip of snout and posterior margin of operculum. 8 scales from nape to dorsal; 2-2.5 scales between origin of ventral and lateral line. Short, round axillary ventral scale much less than eye in length. Longitudinal branching lines on scales. Snout round.
