Comments: Known from the freshwaters of Luzon, may be an endemic species. Found still abundant in 1995 in Lake Bombon (=Taal) (Ref. 12165, 13446). Recorded from Candaba Swamp and Pampanga River (Ref. 109918). A major fishery in Laguna de Bay (Ref. 80824). A 1583 MT yield was reported by BFAR in 1983. Museum specimens collected from various localities, in 1982, LRS-82103; in 1984, LRS-84132 (Ref. 13460). Found in Lake Buhi (Ref. 13464). Reported to be part of gill net catch composition in Taal Lake, Talisay area (Ref. 81207). Collected from CLSU Fish pond and Pantabangan Reservoir in Nueva Ecija as specimen for living fish museum (Ref. 81820). Recorded from Pampanga River and Paitan Lake (Ref. 109918). Reported from Lake Mainit and Kalinawan River (Ref. 81829). Type locality of Therapon brevispinnis, Quingoa River, Province Bulacan (Ref. 94476). Endemic status computed from FishBase data (country records, occurrences records in literature and in point data) on 16/07/08.
