Biologie     Glossaire (ex. epibenthic)

Inhabits coastal waters and river mouths (Ref. 45255). Found on the continental shelf. Maximum disc width of about 180 cm. Ovoviviparous (Ref. 50449). Litters of a single pup; born at ca. 33 cm WD (Ref. 114953). Caught very rarely by the demersal tangle net fisheries operating in shelf waters. Utilized for its meat, cartilage and probably also its skin (Ref.58048).

Exhibit ovoviparity (aplacental viviparity), with embryos feeding initially on yolk, then receiving additional nourishment from the mother by indirect absorption of uterine fluid enriched with mucus, fat or protein through specialised structures (Ref. 50449).
