Comments: Occurs mainly in northern Namibia where it is abundant (Ref. 36731). A rare visitor to Walvis Bay (Ref. 3198). Specimens held at the MFMR. Caught occasionally with bottom trawls as a bycatch of the hake fishery, and as a bycatch of midwater trawlers (Ref. 36731). Also Ref. 2715, 3688, 27121, 27637, 54854.

เงี่ยงครีบหลัง (รวม) : 11 - 12; ก้านครีบอ่อนที่หาง (รวม) : 10 - 11; เงี่ยงครีบก้น: 3; ก้านครีบอ่อนที่ก้น: 8. Body and fins reddish; anal fin and lower part of caudal fin edged with white.

Inhabit rocky or sandy bottoms; individuals descending to greater depths with growth. The stocks migrate seasonally between the coast and deeper waters in accordance with local hydrographic conditions and their life cycle. Feed mainly on fish and crustaceans; the young on plankton (Ref. 3688). Gonochorists (Ref. 4781).
