Comments: Known from the Mekong basin downriver of Khone Falls (Ref. 43281). Has not been found in the Mekong above the waterfalls (Ref. 9497). Occurs in Ban Hang Khone at Don Khone, 3 km below the fall line of the great waterfalls of the Mekong basin at Lee Pee (Ref. 9497). At Khanthaboury, Savannakhet, it migrates upstream in schools together with other species. However, the downstream movements are more sporadic and not done with other species (Ref. 37770). পৃষ্ঠীয় কাঁটা (মোট ): 2; পৃষ্ঠীয় নরম পাখনা দন্ড (মোট ): 6-8; পায়ূ কাঁটা 0; পায়ূর নরম পাখনা্তুন্ড: 30 - 33. Body elongated, intermediate predorsal length (30.1-33.9% SL). Short snout length (35.2-42.8% HL). Long caudal peduncle (17.6-21.4% SL). Short mandibular barbels (length 10.4-39.3% HL). Large eyes (19.2-25.5% HL) (Ref. 46915).

Obligate air-breathing in the genus (Ref. 126274); An omnivorous fish, feeding mainly on benthic animals such as mollusks and crustaceans. During rainy seasons, Mekong specimens feed on fruits and various debris (Ref. 46915). A single 63 cm SL gravid female was observed at Ban Hang Khone in Laos (Ref. 9497). Marketed fresh (Ref. 12693).
