Dorsal spines (total): 11; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 9. In females, upper and middle part of body with several orange-red longitudinal stripes from snout to caudal peduncle; whitish on abdomen, thorax, and lower part of head (Ref. 48452). Young specimens with a black spot on upper part of caudal and 3 dark red stripes on upper part of body (Ref. 48452). Caudal fin rounded in female and young fish; strongly lunate in male (Ref. 48452).
Collected at depths ranging from 32 to 45 m on dead coral and rubble substratum.
