Comments: Recorded from Hiradoshima, Honshu (Sagami Bay) and Kyushu (Ref. 5316). One collection was taken from the Haneji River, Okinawa in 1904 (Ref. 5316). Museum: Mimase market, Kochi Prefecture (Holotype) (Ref. 5316).

Fairly deep-dwelling pipefish (Ref. 559). Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). The male carries the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail (Ref. 205).
