Distinguished from its congeners by the following characters: anus closer to tip of snout than to caudal fin base; barbels much longer than eye diameter; black bars narrower than interspaces (Ref. 39226). Differs from all other known congeners by the combination of the following characters: body with 18-21 bands, distinct on caudal peduncle region; 3 pairs of barbels; lateral line incomplete; caudal fin rounded with 2 black broad concentric curves; and black spot present at upper extremity of caudal-fin base (Ref. 95217).
Occurs in streams with pebbly bottom (Ref. 41236).
