Comments: Type-locality of the holotype of Barbus mungoensis: 'River Wowe, tributary of River Mungo' (Ref. 83889). Known from Mungo River (Ref. 2801, 51193, 81639), Wouri River, Sanaga River (Ref. 81639), Menge River and Blackwater River (Ref. 2801, 81639).

পৃষ্ঠীয় নরম পাখনা দন্ড (মোট ): 11-13. Diagnosis: mouth inferior or subinferior; lips weakly or moderately developed; two pairs of well-developed barbels, posterior pair 0.7-1.5x eye diameter; lower jaw not reaching to anterior margin of eye; 24-28 scales in lateral line; dorsal fin with concave border, last simple ray measuring 91-114% of HL; known from the Mungo, Menge and Blackwater in Cameroon (Ref. 81639).
