Comments: In 1957, 150000 eggs from the Ural River were introduced for rearing at the Lukomskiy fish-farm (Ref. 59044). Have now been recorded from lakes of the northern part of the country and ponds of fishery farms (Ref. 59044, 59045, 59046 and 59047).

Freshwater and estuarine. Lacustrine, fluvial and anadromous forms exist (Ref. 593). Lives up to 13 years (6 in dwarf form). Feeds on zooplankton (mostly crustaceans), benthic animals (especially insect larvae and mussels, also algae) and insects from surface. (Ref. 59043).
