Comments: Type locality, Sungai Belalong, in front and near to Kuala Belalong Field Studies Centre, UNB uncat. (holotype of Gastromyzon cranbrooki, 4.82 cm SL). Presently known only from the Temburong River basin in Brunei Darussalam (Ref. 56228). This is the most common species of the genus in the riffle zones of Sungai Belalong (Ref. 56228).

Descrição suscinta Morfologia | Morfometria

Raios dorsais (total): 7; Raios anais : 4; Vértebras: 31 - 32. Distinguished from its congeners in possessing the following unique combination of characters: distinct secondary rostrum; complete postoral pouch; body brown, with 9-10 grey bars, head dorsum dark brown, with thin grey reticulate pattern; absence of subopercular groove; gill slit vertical; sublacrymal groove; snout truncate when viewed dorsally; abdomen without scales; 56-60 scales in lateral line; pelvic fin not overlapping anal fin origin, adpressed dorsal fin falling short of level of anal fin origin (Ref. 56228).

Mostly found in rocky area with shallow flowing water less than 50 cm deep (Ref. 56228).
