This species has larger males with deeper body (34.4-36.7 % SL); sides of body with an intense orange coloration. Scaled anal-fin base. Dorsal fin of males with long filamentous rays; 17-19 in males, 14-17 in females. Caudal fin rays 30-32. Anal-fin rays 18-22 in males, 18-21 in females. Caudal and pectoral fins rounded. Snout gently pointed with lower jaw slightly elongated (Ref. 40938).
