Diagnosis: Distinguished from other members of the genus by its color pattern which includes a lateral band and abdominal stripes that become darker and have much lighter interspaces on the caudal peduncle and a caudal spot that is divided into elongated blotches continuing the lateral band and upper two abdominal stripes, respectively (Ref. 56722).
The type locality is a large swamp with muddy bottom; very shallow at the time of the sampling, where some places are not more than 5 cm deep (Ref. 56722).
