| Description |
Characterized by its glaciated margin and bottom topography and influenced by the cold, southward-flowing East Greenland Current, this LME extends down the eastern side of Greenland to its tip. The irregular shelf varies greatly in width, from a maximum of about 750 km in the north to about 75 km in the south. The main stock of commercial significance is cod (http://www.na.nmfs.gov/lme/text/lme59.htm; formerly East Greenland Shelf). Should contain all Fishes occuring in Greenland and in FAO area 27 (or Greenland and Iceland?). |
