Biologia     Glossario (es. epibenthic)

Facultative air-breathing in the genus (Ref. 126274); Lives in rocky areas and vegetated margins of lakes and streams (Ref. 5259), primarily in lakes preferring still or gently flowing waters (Ref. 51290, 44894). Adults prefer the shelter provided by complex habitats such as rocky lake shores and also in-lake macrophytes beds and marsh habitats (Ref. 51290). Juveniles occur in the water column until 4-5 months of age (40 mm in length) and then move inshore seeking shelter and larger prey items (Ref. 51290). Shoaling in open water when young (Ref. 44894). Feeds on insects, insect larvae and crustaceans (Ref. 5259, 44894) and mollusks with cannibalism of eggs and juvenile fish being common (Ref. 51290, 44894). Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00490 (0.00205 - 0.01170), b=3.12 (2.91 - 3.33), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.3   ±0.44 se; based on food items.
Resilienza (Ref. 120179):  Medio, tempo minimo di raddoppiamento della popolazione 1.4 - 4.4 anni (tm=1-2).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (19 of 100).
