Radios blandos dorsales (total): 11; Radios blandos anales: 7. Vanmanenia polylepis can be distinguished from V. pingchowensis. by having 137-146 scales on lateral line and a longitudinal dark brown wavy stripe running along the lateral-line on the side of the body (Ref. 96004).
