Anal
soft rays: 50 - 55. Characterized by the following: D 64-70, origin of fin nearly at tip of snout; A 50-55; caudal rays 14-15, continuous with dorsal and anal fins; pelvic 5, fin of eye side joined to anal fin; small pectoral fins; lateral line of eye side with about 100 scales, on this side ctenoid while on blind side cycloid; eyes separated by scaly interorbital; lips, eyelids and some patches on chin and nape of eye side filamentous; no clusters of short filaments on body and median fins; body depth 1.8-2.2 in SL; body generally mottled light grey to tan with irregular dark brown to blackish blotches and smaller white spots; pectoral fins sometimes have blackish tips; highly variable colour pattern (especially the amount of larger dark brown to blackish blotches) depending on substrate (Ref. 90102).
