Etymology: Blachea: Named for J. Blanche, in recognition of his many contributions to the knowledge on anguilliform fishes, both adults and larvae.;  longicaudalis: Named for its highly elongated caudal section, typical of the species.

Diagnosis: The distal ends of the 5th-7th rays of branchiostegal membrane protruding outside through branchiostegal membrane. Vertebrae 168-176; trunk vertebrae 74-77. Dorsal fin rays 211-222. Anal fin rays154-157 (Ref. 54804).
