Taggstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt): 61 - 66; Mjukstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt): 0; Taggstrålar i analfenan 1; Mjukstrålar i analfenan: 47 - 50. Dorsal side of head with numerous dermal cirri; scales on body not extending forward beyond origin of dorsal fin; anterior chin with a pair of small cirri (Ref. 559).
Found in soft bottoms at depths of 45 - 490 meters; usually on outer continental shelf and upper slope (Ref. 51666).
