เงี่ยงครีบหลัง (รวม): 2; ก้านครีบอ่อนที่หาง (รวม): 9; เงี่ยงครีบก้น 1; ก้านครีบอ่อนที่ก้น: 5. Presence of black band and a scarlet stripe from snout to mid-caudal; and an oblique black caudal fin band (Ref. 74592).

Inhabits fast flowing hill streams (Ref. 41236). A herbivorous (Ref. 74596) and a gregarious fish which inhabits rocky pools with thick riparian vegetation (Ref. 74592).
