Espinas dorsales (total): 13 - 15; Radios blandos dorsales (total): 9-11; Espinas anales 3; Radios blandos anales: 7 - 10; Vértebra: 27. Lower pharyngeal bone short. Pharyngeal teeth in adult including a group of enlarged, flattened teeth. Scales of chest and belly very small, non-imbrication but contiguous. Scales of flank with rugose calculi in the exposed part. Scales on cheek in 2 or 3 series. No micro-branchiospines.
