| Two known distinct runs in the Yukon River known as the summer chums and the fall chums. The summer chums enter the river in June, although they sometimes arrive as early as late May. They spawn in run-off streams tributary to the lower Yukon, almost all of these streams being downstream from the mouth of the Koyukuk River. Spawning grounds of fall chums are in spring-fed (usually in the springs and ground-water seeps), mostly upstream from the Kantishna River. Some of these fish travel to the headwaters of the Yukon in Teslin Lake, Yukon Territory and British Columbia (Ref. 27547). |
