Spawn in early to mid summer. Adult males construct nests in shallow water near shore and eggs are deposited, fertilized, and guarded by the male until the young absorb their yolk and begin feeding. At that time, they leave the nest and migrate to the limnetic zone of the lake where they spend approximately one month, growing from 10 to 25 mm TL. They return to the littoral zone as juveniles (Ref. 30593). |
