Comments: | From observations of developing gonads in all seasons, spawning occurs throughout the year for Gerres species in general in South Africa (Ref. 34363). Fry about 10 cm in length enter the estuaries and stay until they reach maturity (Ref. 34363). These mature individuals leave the estuary to spawn at sea. Spent individuals were not found in the estuary indicating that they do not return to the estuary after spawning (Ref. 34363). |
