Description of life cycle and mating behavior Spawning individuals come out in open day light. Males dig a shallow nest in areas with moderate current. Spawners form aggregations. Spawners die afterwards. Ammocoetes last 3.5 to 4.5 years. They metamorphose in September - December (Ref. 59043).
