Comments: On the west coast of Tasmania, the main spawning ground of blue grenadier is off Cape Sorell. In some years, larvae were found off north-eastern Tasmania which might suggest a second spawning ground used by a small proportion of the stock (Ref. 26608).The beginning of the spawning period varies according to differences in water temperature between years. On the average, there is about 1 million eggs produced by a female, which are released all at once.
