Additional Characters Eggs hatch after 30 to 40 days incubation at 4.4° to 7.2°C or in less than 21 days at 9.4° to 12.8°C (Ref. 27547). Each egg has a double membrane; the outer layer separates and turns inside out, forming a short stalk with the inner membrane and adhering to sand and gravel.
