Etymology of specific epithet |
The species name is from the Latin, solus, meaning alone, and refers to its being the only species of Entomacrodus occurring in the Red Sea. The name is treated as a noun in apposition. We propose the common name, Lonely blenny, in reference to its geographic isolation from other members of the genus (Ref. 84157). |
