Family:  Scorpaenidae (Scorpionfishes or rockfishes), subfamily: Scorpaeninae
Max. size:  40 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 54 - 450 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Mauritania to Cabinda, Angola, possibly farther south.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found on mud or sand bottom. Minimum depth reported from Ref. 4510. Possibly occurs to a depth of 500 m (Ref. 4510).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 15 July 2014 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
