Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Japan; North America: Mexico (Ref. 47709). Needs better reference.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults are confined to small streams (Ref. 559). Feed on aquatic insects and other invertebrates (Ref. 559). Males build nests on muddy bottoms and guards eggs and young for several weeks (Ref. 559).

Country info:  Known from the eastern Shiga Prefecture, the Ibi and Nagara Rivers. Also recorded from Lake Biwa (Ref. 78994). Status of threat in the 2005 Red Data Book of Shiga Prefecture : endangered (Ref. 79825). Status of threat: Critically endangered (Ref. 94887).
