Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 20 - 90 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: endemic in the Venezuela.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits shallow sand or sandy-mud bottom. Marketed mostly fresh, the flesh is of good quality (Ref. 3815).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 29 March 2011 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Occurs in the Gulf of Venezuela, the northeastern region, north of the Araya and Paria Peninsulas, Cubagua Island and in front of the Orinoco delta (Ref. 9626).
