Family:  Ailiidae (Asian schilbeids)
Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic; freshwater; brackish
Distribution:  Asia: Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Nepal.
Biology:  Adults found in large rivers and connected waters. They inhabit surface to mid-waters. Occur in shoals (Ref. 4833). Oviparous, eggs are unguarded (Ref. 205).
IUCN Red List Status: Near Threatened (NT); Date assessed: 21 September 2010 Ref. (124695)
Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Found in Bheri, Kosi, Mahakali, Sagarmatha at 120-250 m altitude. Also Ref. 4833, 41236.
