Family:  Cyprinodontidae (Pupfishes), subfamily: Cyprinodontinae
Max. size:  5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater, non-migratory
Distribution:  North America: Rio Grande drainage in Texas in the USA, from Devils River to mouth of Rio Conchos. Also in Rio Conchos system and endorheic Rio Sauz basin in Mexico.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in sloughs, backwaters, and margins of small to medium rivers (avoiding hot springs). 5 cm max TL (Ref. 5723). Not a seasonal killifish. Is difficult to maintain in aquarium (Ref. 27139).
