Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater,
Distribution:  Africa: endemic to the Luiche River basin in Tanzania (Ref. 28906).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 17-19; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 8-10; Vertebrae: 30-32
Biology:  Inhabits small and moderate swift running waters; feeds on plant matter; mouthbrooding species (Ref. 28096).
IUCN Red List Status: Vulnerable (VU); Date assessed: 31 January 2006 (D2) Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Type locality of holotype of O. luichensis: 'Tanzania: Mkuti River, affluent of the Luiche River, about 40 km on road from Kigoma to Kasulu' (Ref. 28906). Known from the Mkuti River (Ref. 28906, 97348) and Kidahwe River (Ref. 28609), both affluents of the Luiche River.
