Environment:  demersal; freshwater,
Distribution:  Africa: affluents of the Lualaba (upper Congo River basin), Rusizi and Lake Tanganyika in Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi (Ref. 87863), Rwanda (Ref. 87863) and Tanzania (Ref. 4967). Also reported from the upper Kagera drainage in Rwanda (Ref. 87863). Reports from the Lufira drainage (upper Congo basin) (Ref. 2970) not confirmed. Reports possibly from Lake Kivu (Ref. 59189, 83444) questionable and unconfirmed in Ref. 3818 or 107916.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in streams and small rivers (Ref. 87863) with rocky bottoms (Ref. 36901).

Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Found in the upper reaches of the Rusizi River (Ref. 87863). Present in the upper Kagera basin (Lake Victoria affluent) (Ref. 87863) but this is not mentioned in Ref. 46152 who considers A. kivuensis as a junior synonym of A. uranoscopus.
