Family:  Zoarcidae (Eelpouts), subfamily: Lycodinae
Max. size:  27.3 cm SL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 71.4 g
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 325 - 600 m
Distribution:  Arctic: Kara Sea in Russia and Beaufort Sea. May occur in Barents Sea.
Diagnosis:  Vertebrae: 104-109. Pelvic fins small (Ref. 4695). Uniformly dark brown, belly and lower part of head darker; mouth and gill cavity dark; peritoneum black (Ref. 4695).
Biology:  Occurs on muddy bottoms (Ref. 4695). Benthic (Ref. 58426). Feeds on polychaetes, mollusks and crustaceans (Ref. 4695).

Country info:  Specimens from Kara Sea caught at 595 m, -0.91°C, 34.96 ppt, and an oxygen saturation of 88%, on brown muddy bottom (Ref. 11976). Also Ref. 4695.
