Dorsal spines (total): 9-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 7-7. This species is distinguished by the following characters: luminous gland is long, extending from isthmus to anal-fin base, its length 59.7-60.1% SL; proximal radial of first anal-fin pterygiophore lacking trough or hollow; anus is closer to origin of pelvic fin than to that of anal fin; weakly ctenoid and cycloid scales laterally on body anteriorly; body depth 31.0-33.0% SL, head length 39.6-2.0% SL; orbital diameter 13.0-14.0% SL (Ref. 41631. 123727). |
Collected by trawl and landed in fish markets; apparently found on continental shelf and in nearby waters (Ref. 96184). |

Type locality of Acropoma boholensis, Dumaguete city market (probably 40-70 km south of Dumaguete), Negros I., Bohol Sea. Recorded from Negros Island, the Bohol Sea and off northwestern Luzon (Tagudon public Market, La Union). South China Sea (Ref. 41631, 123727). |
