Family:  Melanotaeniidae (Rainbowfishes, blue eyes)
Max. size:  6.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; pH range: 6 - 7.5
Distribution:  Oceania: tributary streams of the Gogol River near Madang, but also known from the middle Ramu system, Papua New Guinea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 5-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-11; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 19-22
Biology:

Country info:  Mostly recorded from tributary streams of the Gogol River near Madang, but also known from the middle Ramu and Sepik rivers (Ref. 13533). Also Ref. 6376 and 6771.
