Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia and Oceania: central-southern New Guinea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 1-1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 20-21
Biology:  Occurs in large turbid rivers. Feeds mainly on Macrobrachium and Caridina prawns.
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 20 May 2020 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  traumatogenic
Country info:  Known from the Purari and Fly-Strickland rivers. In the Fly system, it is found in the middle and upper sections, as far as about 900 km upstream from the sea. Also Ref. 6993, 13533.
