Family:  Zaniolepididae (Combfishes), subfamily: Zaniolepidinae
Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 37 - 201 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada to central Baja California, Mexico.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 21-22; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-12; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 16-17; Vertebrae: 40-41. Caudal may be very slightly forked. First 2 rays of pelvic fins elongated.
Biology:  Feeds on crustaceans (Ref. 4925).
