Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean. Mozambique and Madagascar.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 67-67; Anal soft rays: 55-56; Vertebrae: 39-39. No interorbital space, eyes touch. Pectoral fin rays on ocular side 8, blind 7. Deep body, length 2.7-2.8 times depth. Shorter upper jaw, head 2.6-2.9 times jaw length; lower jaw, head 2.1-2.4 times jaw length (Ref. 41434).
