Max. size:  12 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 3 - 15 m
Distribution:  Western Central Pacific: Java and the Philippines to western Samoa, north to the Ryukyu Islands, south to Rowley Shoals and the southern Great Barrier Reef. Throughout Micronesia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 20-21; Dorsal soft rays (total): 38-41; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 36-40. Description: Characterized by generally pale grey to yellow-white body color; presence of narrow orange-brown to blackish stripe from snout to tail base; partly scaled head; origin of dorsal fin slightly posterior to level of pectoral fin base; rounded caudal fin; depth of body 11.5-16 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Inhabits shallow, flat and sandy areas (Ref. 1602). Solitary or in pairs (Ref. 90102). Found near seagrass or mangrove habitats (Ref. 48637). Often less than 3 m, sometimes over 8 m depth (Ref. 1602).

Country info:  Known from Java (Ref. 1602) and Flores (Ref. 8631, 47567). Also recorded from Raja Ampat Islands, Bali and Pulau Weh; with an Indonesian distribution from Papua to Sumatra (Ref. 47567). Also Ref. 1602.
