Environment:  reef-associated; marine
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: southern Japan, Taiwan and the South China Sea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 9-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-11; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 10-10
Biology:  Inhabits rocky reefs (Ref. 42722).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 12 June 2008 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Known from the Cape D'Aguilar Marine Reserve, and Acropora and Montipora dominated coral areas at Long Ke Wan (Ref. 36558). Also reported from Tung Ping Chau (Ref. 94637). Prefer sites that are more exposed to wave action. Only a single individual was observed from rocky reefs in Tsim Chau (Ref. 128523). Sold in live fish markets. Caught using nets and traps (Ref. 125552). Also Ref. 129329.
