Europe and Asia: currently known only from Lesbos Island and streams draining to the southern Marmara Sea. |
|
Inhabits typical Mediterranean intermittent streams. Substrates consist of pebbles, rocks and some silt. Towards the end of the summer, most fish occur in the remaining isolated pools of water along the streambed. All populations are under threat due to habitat loss, caused by water abstraction (surface and underground) for irrigation purposes, as well as from organic pollution originating from various olive-oil extraction plants (Ref. 57755). |
