Family:  Plesiopidae (Roundheads), subfamily: Plesiopinae
Max. size:  17 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 5 - 30 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: apparently restricted to the waters of Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults inhabit coral reefs. they hide in holes during the day (Ref. 9710). Eggs are guarded by the male parent (Ref. 205).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 04 February 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
