Max. size:  10 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Venezuela, the Guianas and the Amazon River basin.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  A gregarious species which prefers the counter current zones of small creeks. Omnivorous. It is very prolific and reproduction in the aquarium is very easy to carry out (Ref. 12225). Oviparous (Ref. 205).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 04 March 2021 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Occurs in all rivers except the Iracoubo (Ref. 12225). Found in the upper reaches of the Sinnamary River (Ref. 27233). Also Ref. 598.
