Family:  Scaridae (Parrotfishes), subfamily: Scarinae
Max. size:  31 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 0 - 18 m
Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: known only from Marquesas Islands.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in inner bays and outer reef slopes (Ref. 9710). Feeds on benthic algae (Ref. 89972).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 18 September 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Museum: NE of Matahumu Point, Fatu Hiva, 12.5 m, BPBM 11756 (holotype, 25.7 cm SL, male). Also Ref. 89972.
